That's really surprising to hear that their could be failure considering you have TMS subframe plates, what looks like vince's subframe kit as well as an extensive roll cage tied into all 4 subframe mount points.

You've got many time more rigidity than the vast majority of owners would.

I'm very interested to see what the cause ends up being.

When you say popping do you mean like a creaking or a thud? There's a few drive line components that could cause a thud.

Excellent eyes! I was about to ask the about the same thing, when I noticed the VinceBar kit.

Please keep us updated OP, very interested to see if you have a tear or not. I'm not aware of any tears/cracks occurring, post reinforcement plates with the VinceBar kit. I really hope this is not the first. By the looks of that picture, I would have assumed that car has a bullet-proof RACP. Hopefully its just the "M diff clunk" noise.

By the way, I am in Columbia, SC. My family lives in Charleston. Great to see a local on here. We will have to meet up sometime!

Check your front differential bolt. I don't think there's anything wrong with your sub frame Racp , there's nowhere for it to go unless you Have fatigued the bolts holding it on.

Bringing it to Total Bmw and Mini today after work. I want to see what they're thinking it is. I hope it just the diff bolt.

the bushing bolts on the car that I bought with 34k miles were in the worst condition the shop I took it to had ever seen. they said they were completely falling/cracking apart at the touch. said it looked like some weird fluid got on them and caused corrosion. the original owner who I bought it from (not saying he didn't go crazy in it) was a family man and very "slow and relaxed driver" from what he told me. it was indeed making the knocking noise and hasn't done it since the bushings were replaced.
