Default If I lose a dog light bulb will I lose the other + The green light?

Went to turn on my fogs the other day and no green dash light or fog lamps. I replaced the two fuses to no avail. The tail lights work so it's not the #5 relay. Swapped in another relay to be sure and no change.

So that should narrow it down to the switch or a bulb yes? I don't think it's likely that both bulbs would have gone south at the exact same time though, so my question is if one of them went down, would that kill the whole fog light system like Christmas lights? Or would the other one and the green dash light still work? I would like to know that before I pull the dash apart to replace the switch or crawl under the car to wrestle out the fog light bulbs. Thank you in advance!

Do both of your high beams still work?

I'm working off of memory now but I believe ground for the fogs is provided through the high beams on US cars.

Correct. No high beams, no fogs. However if one fog works then both should unless a bulb is out or a line is severed.

Also true. The fogs aren't truly independently wired. They both split off the same harness that's fed from the same fuse/line.

Yes, both high beam work and the blue high beam indicator light comes on when I activate them. All the electrics work fine except for the fogs.

And so I'm clear, if one of the fog lights burned out the other fog light and the green dash light would still function yes?

Not that it will be overly difficult but I don't want to replace the fog light switch if it's just a bulb!

Yes. If you look at the U.S. ETM drawings you will see one side of the front fog light relay coil is grounded through the high beam filaments. A cold high beam filament has a resistance of about 1/4 ohm. As long as at least one is intact and connected, that side of the coil will be well grounded and the relay will pick.
