Default Manual transmission fluid

Which to use when changing transmission fluid?

The BMW MTL is no longer available.

Will this work?

MTL 75w 80

Also ... will I really need to replace the fill plug? And drain plug?

The Redline MTL is what I use. I've changed the trans fluid a few times and haven't replaced the original plugs.

I use Redline MTL as well. Never replaced the plugs either. I'd suggest pulling the fill plug first though. If you pull the drain plug and then for whatever reason you can't get the fill plug out you're SOL. These things almost never get touched and can seize pretty bad.

Redline MTL is what I use. Buy a gallon and get one of these to make the job easy.
Cheap & effective. Pump is great for diff as well.

I use Redline Mt90 or Ac-Delco synchromesh with great results.

Same for me.

Isn't ATF what's supposed to be used? At least that what the sticker on my transmission says.

The ATF is fine. If you live in warmer climates or track your car, you might want the MTF. What bothered me most about the ATF was the transmission would leak every time it got under 45 in my garage. Even though that's like 10 days/year.
