Default CD Changer plug wiring is EFF'd. What is going on here?

Background: I've had alternator whine issues on my CD changer for years since I switched over the changer connection to a Audiovox MediaBridge. This week I am about to be on the road for 12 hours so I thought I'd get a Grom unit and see if it was any better. Long and short of it is that the Grom was worse.

But in the process of hooking up the Grom in the back at the CD changer plug I noticed for the first time a HORRENDOUS looking wiring situation as I randomly decided to start pulling off some electrical tape that was on the plug.

What should I make of this? I have to think this is at minimum related to my alternator whine issues. But should all those other wires be unconnected? What should I make of this?

Only think I can think off is someone changed his CDC from M-bus to I-bus or changed it for an mp3 interface.

I would unplug the CDC connector at the radio and install the Grom there.

I'll look again, but I thought the changer connection was built into the wiring loom, or either whas a completely different connector style than what's in the grom kit.

I think it is, but can't see only end piece of cable in your pic.

I take it the grom has the small 10 pin connector that connects to the CDC socket on back of the radio.

Aight. Then screw this wire. You install the Grom directlty to the radio, making it the CDC.
