Default Euro S50 - 150k km, what to do

Hi all

Trying to find general info what to check and replace on s50b30 which is now 20years old and 150+ km.

Ppl are saying, bearings and arps, but would much appreciate if someone would be more specific
Which bearings, which bolts, and if anything more, what.

Would like to keep it in good shape, such an rewarding engine.

Thanks

Why bother with the B30? If you're going Euro, take the B32.

More power and trq everywhere and don't get hung up about archaic Vanos stories. They can be fixed DIY easily now 20 years later.

PS, the B30 is from '92, so make that 25. Maybe not applicable to your example.

Why would he replace his engine when he is asking for a refresh?

Don't know, interpreted as he had sourced one and was going to fit it. Re-reading, I don't know why.

Rod bearings are more of issue with the S50B32 motor than the S50B30. I have a friend with a B30 with over 240,000 km and regularly tracked which he has done absolutely nothing to except change out the harmonic balancer prophylactically. Just regular maintenance and valve adjustments. He did add 2 oil separators as this engine has an issue with too much oil getting into the head with sustained high RPM use on the track.

Engine is already in the car and there are no plans to change that.
So, refresh is on menu.

I know these can go for much more than these 150k km but I have time and friends who are experienced engine builders, so I just need to know what to check and replace, just to be sure.
If ARP bolts are better than stock, and bearings "could" be at the end, I will change these.
I regulary check valves, change oil/filters and similar generalities. Just wonder for something more, if there is any.
Hope you understand what I mean.

Car is road driven, some trackdays but sessions are 15-20min max, causal track use I could say.
Just want to keep it clean and nice for weekend drives.

If it isn't broke then don't fix it. Why would you start tearing into a motor when you have no problems with it? Have you checked compressions? Done a leak down test? Or had an oil analysis done? You're asking for open heart surgery just because you think it's about time you'll have a heart attack, makes no sense.

You got another one hundred miles to before you need to think like that...the car has 93,000 miles for crying out aloud. Do what englishtom1596q says, plus change fuel filter, clean and recalibrate fuel injectors, change cabin air filter. Now would be a good time to add a cold air intake and stainless steel brake line. You could consider a tune too.

rod bolts are a weak point in these if the engine has seen lots of high rpm pulls / track time with raised limiter they do fail. many engines do more than 100k miles easily though
