UPDATE

I picked up my heads from the machine shop earlier. They were amazed at how straight the heads were. No warpage. Even 02 could not shimmy under anything. Once I got the heads home I sealed them up for storage until my bottom end is done. I've decided I'm pulling the trigger on a 4.8L stroker for this block. Exciting times! I'm still in negotiation with VAC on some of the finer details of the bottom end build. Hopefully I'll get this sent off for getting sleeved and assembled soon. I'll be waiting for my stroker kit first though.

The heads still may look a little dirty in some areas but it's just loose debris sealed in by the oil that was put on the head to keep dust and dirt off. A simple wipe will carry it all away.

UPDATE

Alright kids, here's the deal. I know you don't want to see this project fall to the way side and take months. My stroker kit is being manufactured, block getting machined and sleeved, and still working out my SCer system, but I don't want to leave you all without updates for MONTHS while I wait for the motor build to finish and then drop it in the car. Instead, I decided today I would go buy an S65 that is already assembled so I can get it in the car and get you guys some cool burn out videos! I'll have the S54 out of the car this weekend and by next weekend I'll have the S65 running in the car with any luck.

If any of you guys want the old S54 let me know. The bottom end will need a rebuild but the rest is fine. Transmission can go as well.

In addition to grabbing the new motor I did a little more work on some of my parts for the motor builds. I'll grab more pics soon.

Instead of the nightmare which will be putting all the BMW electronics into the car to make the DCT gearbox and s65 work, have you thought about using a Syvecs ECU? It's a full standalone ecu that can control the DCT gearbox, s65, boost, vanos etc etc.

They even make an s65 "plug and play" kit.

http://www.syvecs.co.uk/products/eng...d-e92-m3-kits/

No idea on price, probably isn't cheap, but it would make your project significantly easier.

I actually have done a lot more research on this but did not throw it in this update, I will next. I will be going with the Syvecs 6Plus ECU actually and it's only a few grand new which is not bad at all for this level of standalone. It will make this swap more plug and play

Kinda digging the TypeR vibe of the red cylinder heads!

Thanks for the updates

When you finally get around to dropping the S65 in, can you do a step by step process so that it's easy to follow and repeat? Thanks

Its not so much that I want to be noticed, but more that I want to stand apart from the crowd. And to me, Phoenix Yellow and Laguna Seca Blue are two of the best ways to differentiate your M3 experience from the norm.

I'm not sure what else at this point I can contribute as my M3 is in great mechanical order at this moment in time. Maybe down the line when I have to do the clutch and clean the TBs, I'll throw together some more DIYs. Or if I ever get a chance to do an engine rebuild...

I'll be posting all my R&D for everyone here to benefit from. I'll post pics later but it is late and I'm tired. The S54 is pretty much out of the car except for a couple bolts. I decided to call it a night. Tomorrow I'll be fitting up the S65 and I'll hope to have mounts made up by Tuesday and I'll get my driveshaft together by Friday. The plan is to have the car going up and down the street in two weeks. Wish me luck guys
