Hope everyone is safe. Sad to see such a beauty off the road.

What happened?

Oh come on man! Show some sensitivity to the guy! He just lost his pride and joy and already asking for parts?

Really sorry to see this. Such a rare color to. Hope everyone is safe and you come back with another one built better and faster.

With all of these things happening to these cars the number of nice examples will continue to shrink.

I honestly didn't mean anything negative by it. When I totaled my previous m3, I was selling parts later that night.

Thanks for all the kind words. To answer the question of how the accident happened, it was as i was driving past an entrance /exit to a Zaxby's. The other driver was exiting as I was going past and he said that he hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. He hit me pretty hard but I think the M3 help up very well to being rammed broadsided.

As to whether I will part it out or sell to someone for parting out, or even repair and keep it, I'm still studying this. Once decided I'll report back.

I'll try to upload another pic of the accident scene.

Update: State Farm has not concluded the claim but say the repair estimate exceeds $12k. I'm stunned, frankly. The damage does not appear so extensive. I'll report back tomorrow afternoon after talking with my repair shop.

Sorry to see this, at least you're alright. Hopefully everything gets resolved smoothly.

I think all insurance companies do their estimates assuming everything will be replaced with new OEM parts. Also most companies want to completely replace any damaged parts instead of repairing them. So I'm thinking they will probably want to replace the rear quarter panel, which is always expensive.

I am just speaking from a few experiences. My fathers Audi S6 got the rear quarter tapped in a parking lot. They estimated $7k to replace it, he ended up having a body shop bend it for $1k. The same car hit a deer and they wanted to replace the whole radiator support because of a scratch.
