Yeah, not great and 2-3" too high. The newer gen sports seats are incredible, but these are pretty average.

Thank you. You literally sit on them not in them. Im 6' 200 lbs. I guess it also depends on your preference of using the paddles or shifter. I dont know why, but i much prefer the shifter. So im slightly tilted to the right all the time.

Yeah granny style, but damn. Who wants to sit in an m3 granny style. Listen ill do it for 5 minutes, but this is my daily driver that I cruise down Sunset all the time. Plus granny style is comfortable for sitting and steering perhaps, but I cant see shit out the sides, my knees are hitting the steering column/wheel, and its hard to reach the touch screen on my kenwood.

I've had e46, e90, and F80 M3's. Here is how I rank the seats:

e90 > F80 > e46.

The e46 seats are awful and uncomfortable. The e90 are comfortable, like a luxurious lexus comfortable and the F80 are comfortable but not as padded and soft as the e90, more sporty.

Can you swap the e90 seats into the e46?

Would take some fabrication of the rails as the width for those are different, but considering E9x performance seats have been put in an E46, and E46 CSL seats have been placed in an E9x it's clearly doable. Heck status gruppe fabbed up some mounts and put F80 seats in their E46.

No problems with the seats they are rather comfortable and ive done some long journeys in it. the only complaint is sliding around during aggressive driving... but i guess thats what leather does?

for those who said the steering wheel doesnt align with the seats, it is telescoping/adjustable

Agree 1000%. My mother has a F31 like yours, and -as a seat snob- the standard sports seats are some of the best i've ever sat in. I even prefer them slightly to the F8x seats (which are leaps and bounds better than than previous gen M3's).

If I did not already have Z4M seats (PnP), i'd absolutely consider sourcing a set from a 428 to retrofit.

You can swap out seats if you have the time and skills. There's some e46 m3s with m4 seats, front and back. So anything is possible. I mean if you guys are willing to spend $2k+ in coil overs, go for it or stay miserable and not do anything about it.
