Did a 200 mile roundtrip caravan yesterday. I wanted to sell my seats right after I got home. The whole day my back hurt and my body was just tired.

I'm 6'1 and I can't find a seating position that's comfy.

The stock seats are quite possibly the worst thing about the E46.

Recaro Sportster CS FTW.

I am 6'1" with 33" inseam. I am not really into gangsta leaning, sitting in the proper position using the Recaro guide (link below), my head rubbed the headliner and rearview mirror created a huge blindspot. I am glad I am not the only one who has trouble with the car, so strange they did not make it have more headroom when there are many european drivers who are taller than I am.

According to other threads, the Recaro Sportser CS with Macht Schnell mounts and sliders only drops you 1-1/2".

I'm 6'1'' and my head rubs against the liner unless I recline further than I'd like. It's even worse on the track trying to fit with a helmet. On long trips my lower back starts to hurt after not very long too.

Can echo people who say their head's hit the headliner if positioned the way I'd really like. The seats sit too high for me. It's not my daily and haven't tracked it so not willing to spend the money to do what I really want (imola Recaro Sportster CS).

I am fine with Vaders in the E36 and the seats in my E46.

The seats in the C5 roadster I just got rid of, those were truly some crappy seats in terms of both leather and seating support. Compared to those, the E46 is lux.

I find mine comfortable, but the leather isn't in great condition -- especially on the inflatable bolster sections, where the cracking is pronounced. I haven't yet decided whether to have them recovered, or replace them with Recaro Sportster CS or Cobra Misano Lux (both for the weight savings, and in the hopes that they'll wear better than OE).

I have the opposite problem most do on here -- I'm 5'8" and like an upright seating position, so I have my seats set fairly high up in the adjustment range. To those who have installed aftermarket sport seats, is there mounting hardware available that permits you to sit them higher up than they normally would ride with just the sliders?

After hearing all the tall guys complain about their heads hitting the headliner especially with a helmet on, I guess it's good to not be so tall when owning one of these cars.

But what I see daily are typical German car colors; blacks, silvers, grays and whites. They look nice, I agree, but to me the appeal is what the M cars were in the 1980s an event. Its not so much that I want to be noticed, but more that I want to stand apart from the crowd. And to me, Phoenix Yellow and Laguna Seca Blue are two of the best ways to differentiate your M3 experience from the norm.
