Thanks Shimp52, for remembering to share your exhaust sound bite...actually and interestingly, you did well.
Wondered what kind of back pressure you're getting!

Nice project!! I'm doing exactly the same thing with my E36 328IS, but in my car: stroker 3.2 forged internals, arp main studs, arp cilinder head studs, Megasquirt, garret gt4094r turbocharger, 6 siemens deka 80 lbs, 6 moran 235 lbs, getrag 6 speed gearbox, M5 differencial, and 6 wet nitrous foggers, on Ethanol 99%.

Keegan I put the steel wool in there to muffle the sound and mellow out the tone. I pretty much just did research on what the aftermarket ones where made of and that's how they are done. Either steel wool or fiberglass surrounding preforated pipe.

Drliceu That's awesome, I'll be in touch with you on that probably in winter as the motor has started to burn a little oil and my next stage was cams anyway so I'll be pulling the motor out and rebuilding it. New bearings, rods, pistons, valve springs, etc. I have a few friends that rebuild motors but none with BMW experience to help me out.

Been busy, I did this weeks ago. With the front diff mount shot I went and got the Turner solid mounts which are aluminum for the cover and Delrin for the front.

Driveways gravel and on a slant so jackstands don't work so those are is my cheap offroad jackstands lol

All the teeth were in perfect order so that was a relief as the cars had 9 owners

Tackling the front mount I drilled the rubber out first, then just used a hack saw to cut the bushing casing. Took a while and was kind of a pain but done with no special tools for about $15 so I'm good with it.

Nicked it a bit but it'll be alright

Used a steel plate, a vice, and a lot of strength and patience to put this bushing in but in is in. Looped a wrench around the vice for extra leverage as this needed huge amounts of force. It actually got stuck about 80% and I thought it was all it had.

It took a beating

Took the cover to work for the bushings

Painted

Assembled

Putting it back

Friendly reminder before I put the car back on the ground

Another good day at the office

I work for Firestone and we get serious discounts of certain tires so I figured it was time as the Kumhos it came with were not holding well with the stiff drivetrain and lightweight. Went with the new to the market Bridgestone Potenza RE71R and went with 235 up front and 255 in back for a larger contact patch.

Spacers will come soon

The grip is phenomenal on these, this tire at this point has only been on the market for a few months. We actually had to order 2 from TireRack as we (Bridgestone) did not have 2 Bridgestones in our warehouses. Between these and the solid mounts the drivetrain feels very snappy and responsive.

Pictured here is the last State Emissions employee to set foot in my car. Built in 2/97 it will be over 20 years old by the time it is due for testing and that's the requirement for historic tags in Maryland

With MPact just 4 days away I will be attempting to replace all the control arm bushings and tie rods before then. My driver inner is loose and so is a ball joint so I figured I'll just knock it out at once. Someone had already replaced the lollipops with Powerflex purple.

First time to a big BMW show so I'm pretty excited though this will be the furthest its been driven since I bought it, max has been 40-50 miles round trip so we'll see how it does. With my other car being a Jetta I've been going to VAG events for some 7 years like H2O and Waterfest.
