Good luck with it! Like I said, its really not that bad. I initially tried to do it over a 3 day weekend, but ran into a few snags like I mentioned and eventually got completely stopped when I realized I forgot to order one of the thrust pins and compression springs. Total time for the mechanical aspect of the job was 6 days start to finish (2.5 full days of work, then four days of doing little things in the evening after work to finish it up). If you run into any problems or have any questions, I'd be happy to help!

It is an excellent thread, it helped me a lot in my conversion I have just done it in the last couple of days. I finished all mechanic work, bell housing modification and making a place for the gear indicator switch in 3 days. I started the car but i have ses,smg and eml on and i lost most of the engine power this happened after a 15 minute drive not immediately when I started the car, at first I had power and eml was off and I could drive the car to 8000 rpm. I have a part missing in the clutch assembly which is the clutch switch which i will order. The car started without connecting any electric lines because I already had a bypass on the neutral safety switch , the car previously with the smg could have been started while in gear. Now I have no shops here in egypt that have autologic hardware but we have GT1 , so my question is it possible to program the DME by SSS or it must be Ncs expert or other, I also have an ediabas connector and can use inpa or ncs expert. I'll get the missing switch but I need help on how to prgram the dme. Please if there is anyone that could help me with the coding I'd really appreciate it or if you can't please advise who I can contact to help with this.

Thank you.

^ You don't even need any switches at all. Unless you want cruise control and that gear indicator. You can use sss if you can get it to program the dme to a manual tune. When I did it I used a combo of sss and winkfp. Didn't even need ncs expert, but I did go back and check all the coding with ncs. Also you will need ncs to activate the gear indicator on the kombi. I don't think you can activate it any other way.

When we did it, we used a combination of NCSexpert, INPA, winFKP and winOLS. I'm not sure that ALL of these were needed, and it may have been done as a matter of convenience depending on which module we were working on at a given time. That sticky thread involves a lot of reading, but it does hold the answers to your questions!

There's a bunch of different ways of coding. I say read up and decided what you want to do. Also follow diys with a grain of salt, most of the time they are not exact and will require some figuring out. But all the answers are online. Just have to look. Winkfp is the fastest I've ever used for programming the dme.
