Default Reverse light wire?

I've retrofitted auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and UGDO, and got everything to work, including clown nose. I added reverse light wire to the wiring harness and just need to locate the reverse light wire and tap it.

I've read that it is located in the cables that go through driver's side footwell area and it is blue/yellow, but it is a mess of wires in there and I am having a bit of hard time. Anyone know of easier access to reverse light wire in the cabin?

Thanks.

It is blue/yellow. It's a pain in the ass to trace into the cabin. I didn't bother. Here's a writeup.

I don't know if it's easier, but maybe try directly from the gearbox reverse gear switch.

Make sure you calibrate the compass to show the correct rhumb.

I also need to trace the wire, but my source is the factory wire to dimming mirror. I'm going to have the radio auto mute when the PDC is on = reverse gear seclected.

I just checked the ETM, don't know if same for US, but the reverse wire in the EU ETM is easily available in junction box (comb connectors) behind the glovebox.

So just take a new spade connector and stick into the comb. No splicing/cutting necessary, which I never do.

Good to know, I wish I had known, since I just took the glove box out to replace cabin air filter!

Thanks!
