Right on, I'm not really trying to swap airbags aronud or anything. My original question was based on the assumption that the 99 US M3 had a dual stage airbag which I now believe to be incorrect. So I'm just going to get a direct replacement wheel that has the same airbag as my current wheel. I just want a new fresh wheel that has been rewrapped and stitched. I like the one in my original post the best, I'm not crazy about Alcantara the more I think about it, I don't think it really vibes with my style.

Then get the one you posted, it's the correct wheel.

That looks great. Can I ask where you had that done?

Anyways, the seller andri-zakus on ebay is a member over on bimmerforums. If you PM him and get up with him on facebook he'll cut you a deal to avoid ebay fees. I got one from him and it's SUPURB.

Took about 3-4 weeks to get to me from the ukraine, but it's worth it. It's an awesome steering wheel.
I mentioned it in my other post, as seen above. Andri-zakus on ebay. I forget what his bimmerforums name is, but it's similar. If you look in the classifieds section for e36 wheels you'll see him selling them on there.

I think he knocked off 30 bucks or something to do it without ebay involved. Several of the other guys on BF had already used him. He'll do any combination of stuff you want. I do NOT like the stupid colored stripes on the tops of the wheels, which is all he sells on ebay, so I had one made without it.

Took him 3-4 days to make it, he sent me a picture of it, and then mailed it out. Shipping was 3-4 weeks, but the Ukraine post tracking info he gave me was useless to me (no surprise there), so you just have to be patient with it.

I haven't installed it because I'm still messing around with my headliner and some other stuff and don't want it to get damaged. Also want to get an alignment done so the steering wheel clamp doesn't dig into the leather while they do that (I've replaced the steering shaft, rack, tie rods, and ball joints recently).
