Default APEX ARC-8 Group Buy Feeler

Sounds like the forum is ready for a APEX wheel group buy. Spoke with Eddy from APEX and they're willing to accommodate a group buy on their wheels if there's enough interest. This thread is being used to capture the interest first, so I can return back to Eddy and finalize the pricing.

Some basic information can be found here:

http://www.apexraceparts.com/ARC-8-1...fset_p_55.html

All of their wheel sizes are available for this group buy. There is no restriction with how you choose to match up your fronts and rears. The track guys will likely gravitate to the 18x9.5 and 18x10 for their square setups. This will be a great opportunity for those who are looking for an affordable and functional set of 18" wheels for the street/track.

The group buy price is dependent upon how many people sign up, so if you're interested, put your name on the list as well as the sizes and color you're interested in. The number of committed people will also determine the expected delivery date.

If you're considering these wheels and also run a BBK at the same time, please take note of the following:

Quote:
Running 18x9.5 and BBK: These wheels have a minor clearance issue with stoptech and brembo 355mm BBK's. a 3-5mm spacer is required for spoke clearance. These can clear stoptech's 380mm BBK without the use of any spacers. They do not clear Brembo's 380mm kit.

Running 18x10 and BBK: The 18x10 setup can clear most BBKs on the market including Stoptech's 380mm kit. They do not clear Brembo's 380mm kit. They should fit all 355mm kits without any issue.
The important information highlighted below:

Quote:
This wheel was spec'ed to work on 3 series, and Z series models. They accept the OEM BMW Roundel Centercaps, part number: 36 13 1 095 361. Wheels come with APEX centercaps.

Flow-Form (Roll Forged barrels) manufacturing provides an exceptionally light weight wheel for a mesh design. Produced specifically for the BMW 3 series. The ARC-8 is a performance wheels that doesn't sacrifice aesthetics.

The wheel can be used on other model bmw's as well but proper tire size and suspension setup is needed for fitment.

Most Customers will elect to mount a tire that is wider then what the factory recommends. Only stock tire sizes can be guaranteed to fit, but certain over sized tires can fit without issue. Suspension components, camber settings, ride height, and tire size all effect fitment. Please browse online forums or contact us for fitment advice.

Warranty Summary: 2 year Structural warranty. 1 year limited warranty guarantees wheels will be free from defects in materials, workmanship and paint finish under normal and reasonable use.

Specifications:

* Diameter: 18" * Width: 8.5" * Offset: 38mm * Lug Pattern: 5x120mm * Centerbore: 72.6mm * Weight: 18.45lbs

***UPDATE 9/27/10***

I know everyone's been waiting for some updates from APEX and I'm glad to give the latest set of news from Eddy. Here's the breakdown:

Eddy's currently talking to the production factory to see if they would be able to ship a container of 18x9.5 wheels in advance of the original ETA of November. This early shipment would be just enough to cover the interest of this group buy, so we need to gather a solid number of people who are COMMITTED to buying a set of wheels so APEX can put the formal request in to the production factory.

The deadline for signups will be set to Friday Oct 8th. This will give Eddy enough time to talk to the production plant and for people to decide if they wish to join the group buy.

Last important pricing, Eddy was willing to offer $100 off the set price as well as free shipping for those who join this group buy. This applies to those who purchase the 18" wheels during this group buy.

Please update your signup to see if you're still interested in this group buy. For those who wish to join before Oct 4th, feel free to add your name to the growing list.

The ARC-8 wheels have been in very high demand, and because of this we do not have enough stock on hand to meet the current Group Buy demand. BUT we do have two inbound shipments arriving in the coming months, with enough inventory to cover everyone’s needs.

What does this mean?

The Group Buy will be split up into two smaller Group Buys to take advantage of what is in stock now vs. what will be arriving in the coming months. Discount pricing will vary between fitments due to supply and wait times.

Why? There are only about 3-4 sets of 18x9.5” et35 wheels left in stock today. Half a dozen sets will be arriving mid November, along with about a dozen 18x10” sets. This is still not enough to meet the demand of the Group Buy. Our major restocking order is scheduled to arrive at the end of December. This includes about 70 sets of 18x9.5” wheels, 30-40 sets of 17x9” et 42 wheels, and 25 sets of our NEW 18x10.5” et27wheel.

Because we have a reasonable amount of stock in 18x8.5” and 18x9”, and some 18x10” wheels, we have the ability to fulfill some orders almost immediately, while the rest can only be fulfilled at the end of the year.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~
What is the wait time and payment schedule?
M3Forums Group Buy #1
The following sizes will ship out to customers by late November. Some sets will ship out immediately after the close of the Group Buy.
Includes any combination of the following while supplies last (limited to stock on hand and stock arriving in November):
18x8.5” et38
18x9” et42
18x9.5” et35
(can only be purchased as part of a staggered setup)
18x10” et25
Payment in full will be made on www.GroupBuyParts.com by October 31st. We will begin the Payment collection date on October 17th. Wheels will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis for fitment and color. So for wheels that are in low supply, signing up early is the only way to guarantee a set.
M3Forums Group Buy #2
The following sizes will ship out to customers in Late December or worst case scenario early January. These are the wheels arriving in our year end restocking order.
18x9.5” et35
18x10.5” et27
17x9.0” et42
Payment in full will be made on www.GroupBuyParts.com by November 19th. We will begin the Payment collection date on October 31st. Wheels will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis for fitment and color. We have a decent amount of stock arriving, and should be able to meet everyone’s needs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~

What’s my cost?

Group Buy #1 pricing:
Discount is off the purchase price of a set of 4 (four) wheels

$100 Discount plus FREE shipping* for any of the above listed combinations

Group Buy #2 pricing:
Discount is off the purchase price of a set of 4 (four) wheels

18x9.5” et35 sets will receive a $150 DISCOUNT plus FREE Shipping*
18x10.5” et27 sets will receive a $100 DISCOUNT plus FREE Shipping* (NEW SIZE, limited supply)
17x9” et42 sets will receive a $75 DISCOUNT plus FREE Shipping*

*FREE Shipping* - Free shipping is to the 48 US mainland states. All international orders plus Alaska and Hawaii will receive a $75 shipping credit. International orders must contact us prior to ordering for a shipping quote via USPS or UPS.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Retail pricing for reference: Does not include discount
Prices listed below are per wheel
17x9.0” et42 - $259
18x8.5” et38 - $289
18x9.0” et42 - $299
18x9.5” et35 - $314
18x10.” et25 - $324
18x10.5” et27 - $344
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please let me know if you have any questions. The first Group Buy won’t be opening until October 17th, so we have time to clarify any questions you have. I know for some this will be too long of a wait, but this is why we have historically posted our own Group Buys when there is a minimum wait time.

Thank you,

-Eddy Pintacsi

In for a set of 18x9.5 in Satin Black.

Now the kicker is that -optimally- I'd need them by october 15th. Is that a possibility?

Now I've got even more thinking to do! These wheels look awesome, thanks for putting this together

I have a feeling I'll be in - you also may want to put a link in the E36 section since there are some great E36 M3 sizes in the Arc-8.

Can you get pics of the 8.5 and 10 rears? I'd like a good idea of how much concave there is to the spokes. And any mounted pics?
