Fake news. 3 generations of SMG as well. E46 M3 was SMG II, M5/M6 was SMG III.

Great for what it is, exceptional for what it was. I think I'm ready for a conversion though since im not chasing track times. I think, if I was competing, the SMG would be the better choice.

Somewhat on topic, but this guy made what is essentially an SMG in his garage. Except instead of hydraulics he used air. Check out his other videos as well, what this guy designs himself and builds in his garage is insane!

Again, no one is comparing SMG to DCT. That's apples to oranges.

I specifically said m3. It was strictly for e46 and ended there. E9x, f8x, and new m3 uses dct.

Look back a few pages or any previous smg threads. Dct is always brought up. Apparently it lacks soul or whatever it’s been described

Reason I mentioned m3. Only one generation, with the e46.

I agree, smg was great for what it was. If I bought an smg I wouldn’t swap it. Unfortunately we live in 2019.

Drove manual for 18 years (Basically since I began driving).

Currently have a SMG M3.

I think the SMG is absolute blast, if you do drive it properly. It has a ton of analogous feel to it, yet it is not fully analogue. And I think if there was a car that can work with it, it has to be an E46 M3.

Anyhow, I do miss rowing my gears and left pedal but not enough to get on my butt to prepare for 6 speed conversion.
