I donít think itís fair to even compare a 3series to a 911/Cayman let alone a gt3/gt4 as brought up earlier. Is anyone really cross shopping between a gt3 and an m2?
This. Absolutely this.

GT3 and normal M2 probably not, but with this thing approaching 6 figures, I think the GT4 is fair game.

Was looking more at the purpose of the car rather than price.

M2 CS is still designed to be a sporty “grocery getter” with nice luxury and sporty touch. GT4 was designed strictly to be a fun sports car.

Multi-purpose top of the line luxury sport coupe 2series M vs a pure sports car cayman gt4

M2 CS has an mrsp of $80k while gt4 is $100k. That’s still $20k difference, the price of a well kept e46 m3 or e92 m3.

Realistically, how many people in the market for a sporty grocery getter go for this over a standard M2 comp?

Well itís stupid I agree, but I guess itís a niche thing. People also bought the M3 CS so there are buyers.

But comparing an m2 cs to a gt4 is like comparing an m3 CS to a GT3

Source on MSRP? Doesn't seem to be officially announced yet, and indications are looking more like $85-90k.

Seems to be an estimate. Official US pricing isn't announced yet. Based on other regions pricing, I think $80k is optimistic:

M3 CS has an mrsp of $97k. Wouldn’t it be foolish for bmw to price the M2 cs at $90k?
