I think the best looking modern bmw is the M6 gran coupe. Too bad they stopped making it. In person, I couldn’t find an angle where it looked bad.

Just a matter of personal taste. IMO, from what I see, the car looks pretty good, but I don't care for the engine/interior and all the electronics. And as others have stated, I don't care for BMW's direction in (lack of ease) of owner maint. I much prefer older analog cars. "May" be faster on the track, but I bet a E30/E36/E46 M3 is much more fun. IMHO, the M88/S38/S54 (and S/14) engines are hands down the best engines that BMW has produced since the 70's. I'm just old school, and I like to work on my cars as much as I can. If I liked technology I'd be driving a GTn as opposed to a 930.

As stated above the motor and steering have no character, I just didn't do anything for me. Decided to just build another E46 .
After test driving an M2 (non Comp) it felt more like a modern E36 than E46. Punchy midrange but not rev-happy and meh steering. Fun car but not 'serious'.

E46 is a much sharper/more exciting car.

Of all the cars BMW is currently offering, I like this little HotRod the most. If BMW was ever going to create a replacement for that Iconic E46 M3 CSL or an Dinan SR-3, this looks like it. Even the Dimensions of the car look similar. Maybe it's sacrilegious to say it, but other than calling it an M2, it reminds me most of a modern day turbo E46 M3 and destined to be a Collector model.

I love all M2 (owned a 2017 LBB 6MT), but you're wrong about this color. Misano blue is total shit in person. This is the same color that is on the X2, Z4, etc... all are horridly Japanese looking. This isn't like LSB where everyone's photos make it look smurf and shit online but superb in person. That picture above of the CS is 10x better online than in person.

Snapper Rocks Blue would have been SO much better.

I won't compare the M2 CS to the e46 M3 CSL because it's not. It's a CS car not a CSL. The comparable would be the e46 m3 CS car. The reality is cars today are completely different from cars of the mid 90's to mid 2000's. It's comparing apples to oranges. Simply put there will not be another car that matches its predecessor from the mid 90's to mid 2000's due to the evolution which cars have got through.

Even though the E46 M3 sounds like garbage on the outside, BMW felt the need to make the M2 sound even worse with the S55. I demo'd the first gen M2 with the N55 at Spartanburg. It was a great car with terrible seats and mediocre power. But it sounded good at least.

You are correct. More generally I don't get why many claim the M2, especially the M2C, is the spiritual successor of the E46. The only similarilty between M2(C) and M3 E46 is the lenght... they feel completely different. And the M2 CS won't change this, it will feel exactly like an M2C

Hmmm! I thought there would have been a lot more excitement about this car then I thought. Chris Harris seemed to love the 365hp version of the M2 and this CS model has 444hp, so as far as a driving perspective I thought it would be a Hit.
