Crap Internet connection, so couldn't read the whole thread. Sorry if this has been said...

Did you check the alignment? OP I had similar feeling. Just got it alignment done and my toe-ins were all over the place. Basically the tires were pointed all different directions, so as the shifted weight from wheel to wheel, the apparent direction of travel changed too.

Also bad RTABs give you a loose flat-tire feeling but usually on accelerating turns.

$1150 for FCAB, RTAB and 4 wheel alignment from an authorized BMW shop. That sound fair to you guys?

Sounds high. But I do my own work. I can't remember the rTABs cause it was so long ago. But the fronts were like $130 in parts at BMP and an hour's work. My last alignment was $75.

3x more than I was quoted on average.

This price estimate is way too high. 4 wheel alignment is about $90 for standard OEM alignment or $160 for track alignment (with extreme camber, etc).

Powerflex RTAB and FCAB are about $50-90 each (I don't remember if they are sold in pairs or not). OEM bushings are less expensive. (prices from http://www.custom-performance.net/pr...idCategory=261)

Labor may be 2 to 4 hours for replacing the bushings.

Here's a rough estimate;

$73.12 ea (MSRP) - FCAB
$135 - 1 hour labor
$33.38 ea (MSRP) - RTAB
$270 - 2 hour labor
Somewhere around $100 dollars for associated chemicals and supplies.
There might be a reuse fee also.

Your total should be somewhere in the neighborhood of $650-$900.

Anyone find the solution? I did new fcab's tires and still have issue. I am going to check tie rods and ball joints on front control arms. I am also going to check the alignement between CSL and OEM as I'm using the former and I'm sure there is less toe...

a member just PM'd me and reminded me about this thread. heres a little update:

i currently am not experiencing this issue anymore. Im not sure at what point I realized it went away or what i did to fix it but here are a few things that has changed since i first posted this.

-New tires in the front (not matching brands) just equal tread on all 4 tires. When i first posted this I had put brand new tires in the rear and had old worn tires in the front. Now all 4 tires are on the same tread level
-I have also taken off my 20mm spacers that were in the front and replaced my oem fronts with OEM rears, so I am now running the OEM 18 square setup

those are basically the only 2 things that have changed, other than that my setup is the same. I have not gotten an alignment or adjusted anything on my suspension.

Smile Re: Suspension? RTAB? FCAB? New Tires? Car feels like its floating/hydroplaning

Same symptoms after placing new v12's on rear only. Drove car with bad handling on fast turns for 2 months until I read this thread. I had new front and rear trailing arm bushings replaced 6 mo ago so can't be that.

Just placed new tires on front (v12's) today. Everything is back to normal. Turn in is crisp again and no more scrubbing and shake on fast corners, especially if I add braking.

This car need same tread depth and grip front and back. I had same brand tires front and back but older rubber in front, changed out the fronts even when it had treads left.

All happy now!
