Default Correct Brake Booster PN

I have a January 2002 build date M3, and I need a new brake booster.

Realoem says the p/n I need is 34332282193.

This seems to be on permanent back order at FCP. Womp womp.

FCP does, however, have an E46 M3 brake booster with p/n 34332282622. Realoem lists this part as the brake booster for M3s with build date Sept 2002 and later.

Is it possible that the updated brake booster that realoem lists for use in 09/2002 M3s or later would work fine in my earlier M3?

I understand that 09/2002 was when they made the change over from MK20 DSC system to the MK60 DSC. I figure that the updated brake booster part has to do with that. So I guess my question is whether the MK60 brake booster would work fine in and MK20 car? Has anyone tried this?

Otherwise, is it likely that I could convince FCP to special order an MK20 brake booster for me, anyone done something like this before to get a part that FCP doesn't have in stock?

Thanks!

I have no idea if the new booster works in older cars. But for sourcing the booster you need, why not ECS or Turner? They both have the old one in stock.

lifetime replacement from FCP. from the sounds of it, boosters don't fail often, but it's nice to know you'll never have to buy it again.

FWIW, I've confirmed that 34332282193 only works for MK20 cars, and 34332282622 only for MK60. Called FCP and they said they can't get the MK20 part, the guy said his system showed that there was only one in stock at a BMW dealership in Europe .. luckily tischer and other places seem to be able to get it just fine.

I guess I don't have to worry about lifetime warranty so much, since I haven't really heard much about this part failing in our cars. I figure if I keep this car as long as I'm intending, it's more likely that I'll overhaul the entire thing to MK60 before this new booster would stand a chance at failing anyway

Wasn't able to figure that out :/ Best confirmation I could get was that multiple part suppliers said that if my build-date is pre 09/2002 then I need 34332282193, and that date coincides with the MK60 switchover. Maybe there's a chance that the updated booster would work, but it doesn't seem like a risk worth taking.

Would still be interested to know what causes the incompatibility if anyone out there knows!

Yeah there any many places that have them, but the point was that I wanted to get one specifically from FCP Euro in order to have the lifetime replacement warranty. In any case I ended up getting one from Tischer since they had the cheapest price.
