Good work on creating a solution!

I cut mine and it looks like crap but Iím planning on doing gold tape through the area into the engine bay.

This is great for those who want a fix with the trans installed. If the trans is out, I recommend removing the old disintegrating factory insulation that rains fibers in your eyes if you touch it with DEI or similar stick on fiberglass heat reflective tape or sheets — I have used both and they work great. If you just remove the insulation and put nothing in its place, you may feel heat through the tunnel in hot weather though there is insulation under the carpet inside that limits the intrusion. If you use a heavy replacement rather than the thin stick on, such as the thicker aluminum sheets made for tunnels, you will have little clearance for the trans. I love the ease with which I can reach the trans bolts or remove and install the slave with the DEI style tape or sheets. But for most, that is not an issue since you wont be doing those jobs often — I have broken a couple of trans and fused a couple of clutches due to excess power (500+ lbs rear wheel torque from turbo S52).

Great options pbon. I ran for 4 years with mine completely removed. Made transmission work such a breeze. The next rendition of my 96 a new OEM insulation is already on hand.

Sign me up. You get so used to staring at the insulation touching the guibo that it starts to look normal (until you realize how much itís sagging).

I thought I was dealing with a unique problem, but no, there are many of you!

Definitely interested. It was really frustrating when I had to give up and let the insulation continue sagging.
