I imagine it would definitely help, as long as it works as advertised

Smoke from tailpipe? How? Abrupt change in fuel ratio causing incorrect afr?

The only difference between top tier and other gas is the exact additive formulation and the amount. The gasoline is not brand specific.

All additives (known as IVD) are tested and approved by the EPA who also regulates the concentration. Actually, your gas could have zero additive in it. EPA reconciles additive LACs (lowest additive concentration %) on a monthly basis. So a fuel distribution terminal can dump a bunch of additive in at the end of the month and not additize the gas for the first 29 days.

Fuel quality has a lot of different variables at play. Although the top tier brands generally have some higher expectations.

Before winter storage, I put in a tank of ethanol free AND fuel stabilizer. The "Pure Gas" app can find ethanol free stations near you.
