You want to choose a car to buy based upon how it sounds on the internet?

sure, once you've heard 20 of them online, I think it's a fair representation. I know the m3 exhaust was played in our house as an anthem for several weekends in a row before I bought one, and once home in the garage revving it up? awesome for a six as seen on "tv", just kidding, it was even better than online.

whatever, here it is above link, and no, no affiliation, dont' give a hoot if it sells or not, for all I know it's an over-rev'd piece of metal waiting for destruction, haven't been to see it either as it's 3 hours away.

[QUOTE=mercedesc63;1067783070]Well I am looking to sell my 02 M3 coupe with 48k miles this summer. Iím going to replace it with a 1999 Porsche Carrera and they used a lsd for the 99í model year only before they upgraded to PSM and later PASM. Fun fact LSD was a very rare option excluding the gt2/gt3 up until the 991 carrera when it became standard. Porsche didnt believe in a LSD for some odd strange reason.

I've tried the 1999 911 and it didn't give me a plus over the m3, so I didn't buy it. Good luck if you go this route, it's a very relaxing car in it's street form, a real pleasure to drive.

I think the E63 is aging terribly, and I would never want to maintain the S85.

Agreed that the V10 likely isn't worth it.. I'm partial to the 996 turbo. Fun as hell and I get the impression they're fairly bulletproof. 911 turbo is an awesome daily imo

Stock E60 M5 is actually pretty quiet from the outside. Mine was the final donor car for K&N when they make their intake. Here is a video from inside the car driving with those intakes:

On the track people in the pits right in front of the main straight said it was louder coming towards them than away, even running 6-8k rpm. Without aftermarket exhaust, it's really fairly quiet from the outside. SS Sport exhaust seemed to be the choice for a sane amount of noise above 4k rpm, while fairly stock sounding below that. One of my friends had headers and cat-back with SS Race and you could literally hear the car from a mile away.

Hard to input, when you haven't said what you want from a car.

I find the e60 and e63 ugly, and the interior is worse. The fuel economy makes them annoying, before fuel cost is even factored in (as in, just need to stop for gas every other day gets old fast). But the M5 drives really well (M6 drives pretty much the same, but when it's a two seater I consider it poor). I'd own an e60 M5 6mt instead of the e39 M5, despite the interior, exterior, and smaller back seat, if it wasn't so horrifically and unpreventably unreliable.

OP I'd say go 996 Turbo from those choices, likely more fun to drive. Plus they seem to be creeping up in values, whereas I think the M5/M6s you're referring to could fall even more.
