Talking 45 WHP & 18 ft-lb gain?!

Greetings everyone,

After installing the Karbonius CSL airbox w/ snorkel, euro headers and cats, and running Paul Claude's MAP tune for close to 3,000 miles now, I decided to see how much of a gain would be had compared to stock. So this weekend I finally decided to get my car dyno tested at European Auto Source.

Just a little bit of background / context, I started with baseline measurements for a completely stock car, and once again with Epic Motorsports Street tune. The original thread can be found here:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=533851
Stock baseline averaged 286 WHP, 236 ft-lb torque. Epic Street tune yielded 290 WHP, 239 ft-lb torque.

Did three runs with the new mods and the results were the following:

**UPDATE: GRAPH COMPARING STOCK BASELINE W/ MODS FOUND HERE** (Stock configuration is Run_0; airbox, euro headers + cats, and Paul's tune is Run_11)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Nv...w8jMnH-tZR8pms

331 WHP, torque: 254 ft-lbs!!! This is an increase of +45 WHP & 18 ft-lbs over stock on 91 octane pump gas?! !! Here is the link to the video!

Do the catted euro headers trigger a CEL or other codes?

Nice, congrats OP! Yep, 40-60HP is about right for those mods. As Hassan said, now add cams, and watch it climb another 15-20HP!

With cats in section 1, no.

Without cats in section 1, yes.

Nice numbers. Have you added to the dyno thread OP?

Hernanagain - - Obi is right; no CELs as I've kept all of the stock emissions control systems in place.

Thanks everyone. I would have guessed maybe 15 - 20 whp at most with these mods? Even the dyno operators were shocked at the numbers she was putting down on Saturday. I suppose tuning for the S54 has really come a long way over the years!

Hassan - - I've definitely thought about cams! However, I'm not sure how that will affect emissions? Since I live in California, the smog check bullsh!t we have to do every two years is a pain. I'm sure it will pass the OBD II check, but with big boy cams I'm gonna need to revamp the entire exhaust system, and that will be an automatic fail for the visual (and not to mention the exorbitant cost of a complete SS system). Very tempting though!!!!
