Default Possible TBD (pending) Counterfeit Castrol 10W60

Uncoincidentally after reading through the counterfeit NGK issue being sold through amazon it sparked my curiosity, especially after guys joked about fake Castrol 10W60. I typically don’t buy oil from amazon - unless an emergency. Purchased this single bottle a day or so ago (cheap $10) for the purpose to compare. Heres what I found..

None of this information is yet CONFIRMED counterfeit/fake/ and I’ve reached out to Castrol USA with this information (waiting to hear back) - but there are some funky signs. What do you guys think?

Hoping this can act as help to members protect their cars. Am disgusted by the entire NGK spark plug situation and hope all guys take initiative to resolve them if they were effected. Hope this ends up being a fluke, and that I’m wrong, but doesn’t seem right.

Please chime in ; check bottles you may have sitting in your garage against these. REPORT BACK

*Warning Signs all marked in red* Different from Genuine bottles

(Print faded/& larger - especially for a newer ("19') bottle)

(Numbers clearly not same font between bottles)

(Compared to 7 bottles-none had this cheap half/assed seal)

May well be fake, but could have just come off a different line (printing) and just a different bottle supplier?

Must agree that the bottle on the left does look poor, as the measurement markings are not even parrallel with the see through strip.

Have you opened them to compare the color/viscosity/smell of the oil?

I have not opened this rouge bottle. Doubt there’d be any certainty made by looking at it. The signs are far off too many already - I’m casting my doubt and returning.

Man that is worse than I expected and textbook counterfeit mistakes. Thanks for posting. Would love to see an oil analysis on it, I'll split the cost with you.

Counterfeiting is HUGE.
Just search for name brand German parts on Ebay...
Strikes me a little weird that you can find all sorts of them, about 50% of retail, shipping from China.
Hmmmmm. How in hell would those OE German parts wind up in China?
It's a sad state, but I confine my purchases to the bigger retailers these days. Hopefully they keep their supply chain clean.

This. I'll contribute to the oil analysis fund as well.

I'd pitch in for that too.

Wow! First fake Chinese NGK’s, and now fake oil? Is it rice based? I’m tempted to open a restaurant and serve fake Chinese food!

This is the label that's on the 12 pack sold by Amazon. The bottles look legit but it's hard for me to compare since the last batch I got had a different label.

Sure looks suspicious, but could be just different bottle manufacturer.
