I know boosting is farely popular to make power.
I still just don't get depriving an E46 M3 of a high rpm n/a engine.
Might as well buy an M2 at that point. Much easier...

This is disappointing. Really really disappointing. Is this payback for Toyota putting a BMW engine into the new Supra?

I was enjoying the process but this seems beyond useless.

same.... to engine swap an e46 M3 is to not even understand what makes it special. Especially if you're going FI- just get an M2 and forget about it

Speed Academy already "rebuilt" and worked with an S54. I would RATHER see them slap a turbo on their current S54 but it makes sense they would use a 2JZ.

I'm on team S54 all day, whether it's boosted or NA. I'm happy to see a channel utilize the e46 m3 in different ways but their audience isn't "m3forum", it's youtube. It's smart to go the route they're going for the sake of viewership.

Hell, who knows, maybe the engine swap will be awesome and well executed.

i agree with this and they even say they are going for more views from a content creation standpoint....but every other build on YT right now is LS or 2JZ swap at this point so they really missed an opportunity here.

from this point out, the coolness factor has severely decreased.

I understand why, would any of you slap a turbo on a 260k S54? Not likely going to work out well. Also I think we all know by now that the 2JZ is one of the best straight 6 motors ever... Sooooo it's not like they're putting something shitty in there.

I 100% agree!

I wish they would have worked out boosting the S54 and creating a "Supercar Killer" that way BUT I feel it's dramatic to say, "No S54 = no good." There is a world outside the box of S54. Again, I'm biased towards and would prefer the S54 to stay but there are viable options outside the realm of the S54.

I'm talking to them about bringing my car up for them to do timed laps in (probably next spring). Would be interesting to see how they compare to a 700whp 2JZ e46 M3
