So, aside from specs that look promising, is anyone here actually running the Ravenol MTF-2? Hows the shift quality?

I'm changing it this weekend to that and will let you know. I'm still on the original MTF2 LT fluid at 95k. Granted my car is SMG so I can't say with 100% certainty about shift smoothness, I'll try to note any noticeable difference in feel of shift.

So you're going to compare 95k mile fluid to 0 mile fluid

Rontgen - You're not going to feel a difference from one brand's GL4 75w80 to another brand's GL4 75w80. Certainly not right away. Maybe if one's base stocks are better, it will hold up longer, but I would always advise more frequent fluid changes anyway such that longevity isn't a concern.

Thanks! The reason I ask is, I'm due for a trans fluid change on my E39 M5 (which uses the same 420G internals as the M3). I've had Pentosin MTF-2 in the past and was very unhappy with the shift quality. I switched to Royal Purple, which improved things in the short term, but as time went on, the fluid has lost that initial effectiveness. Figured I'd give the Ravenol a try next, but wanted to make sure no one here had used it with any immediate adverse effects.

Trying be happy with our transmission is pretty futile lol. Just run the right fluid and focus more on fresher shift linkage and or Auto Solutions SSK I would say.
