Default Re: Every CA guy trying to get stock exhaust

VA has 'equipment' violations for any aftermarket exhaust systems.

A few years ago I was in my E39 M5 that had Eisenmann Race exhaust - sitting at a stop light and a police officer came up behind me and pulled me over half a block later to give me an equipment violation. Aftermarket exhaust and 35% tint... I asked for a decibel reading but apparently it's any aftermarket exhaust. VA is a Nazi state when it comes to vehicles.

Additional stupid items:
- anything over 80mph is a reckless driving ticket
- some counties have annual personal property tax on your vehicles (~4.5-5% of the value of your vehicles)

I would never live in VA because of their car laws.

For that matter, when traveling south Iíll often go 100+ miles out of the way to avoid driving through VA.

And here I thought NY sucked with our new tint laws.

Crap roads, cops in every corner, traffic, and now this lol. I hate going through VA when I travel north

I've lived in a number of different states on the east coast. Virginia is definitely the worst as far as State Police goes (or maybe Rhode Island).

I went back to stock section 3 recently to draw less attention to myself.

I hate both of these laws. Insanity. I had to write a $4,000 check to Prince William Co. last year for our 3 cars, just to own them. Madness but California is a wonky state that I will sadly never live in for a plethora of reasons.

I'm pretty sure it's just NOVA that gets zealous with traffic laws and violations. Or perhaps, enforcing them. I lived in VA for a long time and I can attest that the rest of the state doesn't really care (for now).

every state as their own version of this... NYS has a law where you can't modify exhaust either, I know by experience haha I've had about 20 loud exhaust tickets

I lived in VA for 20 years and thought the traffic law penalties were terrible. Got ticketed for reckless driving in my teenage years (87 in a 65) but had the charge dropped. Moved to NC and thought I gained some breathing room. Boy was I wrong. Saw this a few weeks back.

Points & NC Driver License Suspension

Are you accustomed to driving yourself around? If so, accumulating enough points on your record could seriously affect your day-to-day routine.

The NC DMV will suspend your driver's license if you accrue:

12 points in 3 years.
OR
8 points in the 3 years following a license reinstatement.
The length of the suspension will depend on how many times your license has previously been suspended:

1st suspension: 60 days.
2nd suspension: 6 months.
3rd suspension and all subsequent suspensions: 12 months.
Check out our suspended license guide to learn about reinstating your driving privileges.

Automatic License Suspension

Regardless of the number of points on your record, the NC Division of Motor Vehicles will automatically suspend your driving privileges if you're ticketed for offenses like:

-DWI.
-Speeding over the limit by 15 MPH while already driving faster than 55 MPH.
-Street racing.
-Driving with a suspended/revoked license.
