Default Recommendations for Bay Area shop to do auto to manual swap?

Anybody have recommendations for a shop in the Bay Area to do an auto to manual swap? It's for a '97 sedan that currently has the auto. I'm happy to source all the parts but looking for a shop that has done a few of these and will do a clean install so that it can pass smog without throwing codes. The car will be mainly a daily driver.

Thanks guys,
Isaac

German Auto Sport in Berkeley, CA. Best BMW mechanics in Nor-Cal for sure.

If you're willing to head down to the LA area, Bavarian Workshop in North Hills is my recommendation for anything big like this.

+1 for p-tech. They’ve done a ton of these swaps.

Heard great things about German Auto Sport and Edge Motorworks, so no shortage of solid shops in the bay to help you through this.

What's the general cost for this?

Well, I guess Performance Technic is not interested in doing it. I have emailed and also left 2 phone messages including one with an actual person who was gonna check/get back to me and that was over a week ago.

I’ll start checking with the other shops. I’ll let you guys know if I get an actual price quote.

One of the lead techs from PT opened his own shop in Pleasanton https://www.vtmotorworks.com - might be able to help you out. Motorspeed West in Santa Clara also might also be able to do the job as a few of their techs are E36 guys.

Thanks—VT Motorworks looks like a solid choice. I’ll give them a call.
