Default Is this valve cover salvageable?

Hey guys. Been a while. Anyway, I'm doing a bunch of work, and I'm about to replace my Vanos. I pulled off my valve cover, and I discovered this bit that was scraped/sheared away. It's at the rear driver-side corner. What are my options? Obviously, I'd rather not drop more coin on a new valve cover if this could be made to work. However, I don't want to skimp out and have a guaranteed oil leak. Thanks!

Guaranteed to leak? Only one way to find out.

The only guarantee you have, is an increased likelihood of a leak by reinstalling that cover.

These things aren't cheap - about $380 - so I understand hoping to reuse. But if that's the original cover, I'd venture it's already slightly warped and brittle from so many heat cycles that, even if that one section wasn't broken, chances are it would leak somewhere else.

That is inside the seal. If it didn’t leak before, just use it or go to the junk yard for a new one.

Thanks for the prompt response, guys. Brett, that's what I was thinking...it's the inside, so hopefully it's not terminal. I'm going to button her up and hope for the best. Thanks again.
