Default Who's replaced the rear caliper dust boot on their M3 ZCP?

Mine need to be replaced due to heavy track use (they melted).

There seems to be a misconception that the rear calipers are the same as the non-ZCP but BMW made the caliper piston larger in diameter thus the rebuild kit supplied by BMW does not fit (34 21 1 166 238).

BMW does not have a rear rebuild kit for the M3 ZCP from what I'm finding out.

Has anyone had this problem and what was your solution if any?

After a hunch I found my answer. Since these are the same brakes on CSL M3 I searched the CSL parts list and there are two different part numbers for the rear rebuild kit for the M3 ZCP and M3 CSL.

So now can I buy these CSL M3 rear caliper rebuild kits through my local BMW dealer?

Anything that is on our ZCP's stock should be able to be ordered from the dealership. IIRC, any car brought into the US has to have parts available 10 years after its sold. What's the part number for the ZCP/CSL rear brake rebuild kit? Is this a similar situation in the front or are those calipers really the same?

I've replaced my melted boots. It's easy with compressed air, attention to detail, and cleanliness.

edit: didn't comprehend your issue at first pass. I'd call Turner Motorsports and ask about rebuild kit options for the ZCP rear.

Did you do the fronts or rears? BMW NA does not have a part number for the rear. You have to buy the CSL M3 rear caliper rebuild kit (#34216753682).

Well, it seems BMW NA dropped the ball on this particular part for the ZCP rear caliper rebuild kit.

Go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and cross reference your USA M3 and the CSL M3.

The front caliper rebuild kit is the same between the std. M3 calipers and the ZCP calipers.

I was able to purchase the CSL rear caliper rebuild kit from my local BMW dealer. Here is the part # 34216753682.

I bought 4 to have a couple extras and the dealer is going to see if BMW NA will update their parts system.

How did you get the dust boot to "snap" onto the rear caliper? I've destroyed two already trying to get that stupid thing on.

The solution is a BBK.

I got mine after burning dust boots on front and rear calipers. You're fighting a losing battle

BMW has still not fixed this issue. The parts master does not recognize that ZCP cars have the same rear calipers as the E46 CSL and E86 Z4 M. The correct overhaul kit PN is 34 21 6 753 682. Now my car is down and have an event next weekend. I agree with the above statement - these brakes are just not up to the task for track. BBK from Santa please.
