Excellent question really.
I’d say when people evaluate cars with a circa 2005 viewpoint and say things like “its turbo so no way full stop” and can not at least concede realistically to the passage of time. Do I wish my M2 was 3300 lbs and had a 3.6L version of an S54 revving to 8400rpm and complying with emissions standards for the same price? Yes of course, but duh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To all of you complaining about turbochargers, the new 48 volt instant throttle response systems are being employed in all German luxury car models shortly, so afterwards most everyone will be happy.

Is it going to be the same argument when the next gen M is hybrid? How about when the following gen is electric-only or fuel cell? If someone is a lease or warranty guy that's totally fine. If it is someone's DD I totally agree an older sporty anything is going to be rough. But if we are judging these cars purely for their enthusiast enjoyment which is personally my only reason for owning... I'm absoluteness going to compare to anything else i could own instead.

Good post, and if I can paraphrase it’s “ok for new cars being used as DDs and within warranty, but for truly fun stuff I’ll stick with my old cars” (?) ... if that’s the case then yes, totally agree. If I had room for 2-3 of my own cars there is a good chance the M2 wouldn’t be in my garage. For pure enthusiast enjoyment (your words) I agree it’s hard to land on a new TTRS, RS3, M2/3/4, or new C63etc. Good point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm definitely excited about the M256, and I'm glad it's a 6cyl instead of the 4cyl BMW usesin their e drive cars.

BMW's 48 volt I-6s are coming soon. The 4-cylinder e drive engines are craptastic.

I'm intrigued, but doubt they'll make a model that really appeals to me.

48 volts? Are Ms gonna come with nipple clamps?
My trigger is lack of steering feel in otherwise excellent cars. I don’t know what marketing survey started that trend but it seems fixable - even with electric steering systems. |
