Default Oil change before or after car sits for awhile?

My car is about to sit for 6-9 months while I deploy. Only my thing I'm really concerned about is if I should change the oil before I leave. Current oil has 4,2xx miles right now.

Search for winter maintenance, lots of debate. I do before, but you'll see lots of people in either camp.

Before. It probably dosent matter as much as I think but I dont like dirty oil sitting there for months. Its like cleaning a dirty gun after you use it and before you put it away, not right before you use it after storage.

Just do both! Deployment money is going to be spent one way or another.

Both is the best method of course. But I opt for after when I do mine. Id rather fresh new oil while driving. Oil changes arenít just mileage dependent but age too.

i would change after the break. the clock starts once the oil interacts with the internal of the motor. old oil sitting in the car with it not running for 6 months won't damage the motor since it's not running.

"Good enough to run an engine at high RPM with - good enough to sit in the oil pan".

After.

Yeah I'll probably just do Before and after to be safe.

This logic seems to make the most sense.
