3.8 appears your relay may be failing internally, check the resistance, I bet the connection is hindered

IF! The pump dies, buy a pump online, just the pump and replace it, instead of wasting $400+ on a whole OEM assembly when the pump is the only thing that goes bad. I just went through this last month when my car died on the highway

If you have a coupe the relays are in the trunk on the passenger side. If a vert it's behind the rear passenger card.

Where online did you buy just the pump, do you have a link? I keep seeing fuel pump with full Assembly? I am also thinking of just getting the pump at this point and replace the black fuel pump relay. Car has 126K miles on it now, even if its not the pump, its probably on its last lags at this point. And reading around the forums, it looks like that its very common for the fuel pump to go out on E46.

I expect this is a PWM relay. I get the concept of these, but don't know the controlling source of pulses or their voltages. Upshot: It may not be surprising to see less than 12v; you'd need an oscilliscope or meter that could give you the pwm voltage, period, etc, and something to tell you what's expected for pull-in, duty cycle/hold voltage, etc.
The pump itself I think is PWM controlled as well.

Sorry I didn't get a notification that you replied on here. I just saw you pm. I'll also post the link here for anyone in the future looking at this.

And here's a video showing how to replace the pump while keeping the hanger assembly. It's very simple.

Hey guys,
I finally got fuel pump and relay and will swap them out. I took the back seat out yesterday to take out fuel pump and to my surprise i found this cable disconnected, where the fuel pump is located.

Does anyone know whats the purpose of this cable is? I did not see any plugs where i could connect it to.

Thanks,
Ribar
