WOW, this might just be my most popular thread yet... sadly lol.

Anyways to address some of your comments and questions:

The car has 110k miles, the exterior and interior are in great shape because I pretty much restored the car when I bought it. (bought it super cheap from a family friend, the father that owned the car died and it got beat on hard by his daughter in LA, probably part of the reason the cracks started. All the stop and go in LA and the couple body shop receipts should have been a clue to get the mounts inspected.

There were the clunking noises that I should have realized was the subframe destroying the mounting points. But I didn't want to believe it and passed it off as a rattling subwoofer (one of the most stupid decisions of my life)

Mounting 10 inch wide rear wheels and doing drifts/burnouts/tracking the car is what has brought it to this point.

I ****ing love e46 s54 swap wagons, actually almost bought one on craigslist until I discovered my little issue : / (the idea of having a sleeper has always got me hard...)

I would post pictures of it but I think you guys would cringe and have trouble sleeping like I have had for the past month lol. Maybe i'll post some if I feel like make you guys sick.

Current status of the car: Sitting in a "BMW approved body shop" to get an estimate on the repair. I suspect that the cost from this shop is going to be retardedly high. I will be sending this estimate to BMWNA who is supposedly going to offer to pay for part of the repair. But they don't determine how much they will pay you until after you pay for it yourself and send them proof of completion on the repair. Seem kinda like some bullshit tbh.

Anyways expect some updates on what I do and maybe the pictures of the damage if more people really want to see them.

Repair the freaking car. This time, weld in redish plates and a vince bar, mason bar, or cmp bar.

If you say the rest of the car is in great shape just fix the car, shop around on the floor replacement. I'm sure prices will vary greatly but I would stick to indy shops familiar with these cars versus body shops and bmw dealers. As cheap as the sedans/wagons have gotten, they will all need suspension work and restoration plus unless you do the swap yourself you're looking at that cost too. If you do a full replacement with reinforcement it will be a big selling point in the future for resale as well.

If the car is otherwise clean and you like the coupe and will keep it for a while, repair it properly.
If not, find a wagon and do a swap.

This is interesting. Did you speak with BMWNA or is this information coming to you via the repair shop?

Did BMW direct you to a "BMW Approved Repair Shop"?

The fact that BMWNA is even considering some compensation here is noteworthy.

I went through this process with BMWNA after repairing my subframe. The car needs to be completely stock and needs to be inspected and repaired by a BMW approved shop. I met none of that criteria so they didn't offer compensation for my repairs.

I think they have to prove that you or the previous owner turned down the recall otherwise it still stands.
