Some iterations done on development and test of HW and SW for the IR sensors.
The low temp IR sensors (up to 380 degC) works perfect, while the 1000 degC sensors needs calibration.
Need to make special test equipment in order to calibrate them.

An IR sensor measuring the surface temp of the GearBox temp sensor.

Various HW developed: From top to bottom; KBUS2CAN, Analog2CAN (pressures and temperature), CAN2HMI and IR2CAN-prototype.

Ready for testing: Oil pressure sensors and oil pressure distribution block...

Have received so many requests about price etc...

This project started for fun, without any intentions to sell anything. Based on the feedback and questions, I realize that there exists other enthusiasts which would appreciate similar solutions in their cars. Being a developer both by profession and mind, I'm not convinced that taking this project to a product, involving customer service, installation issues, support etc. etc. is a vice step to take. However, as an attempt to clear my mind and (hopefully) make it clear what to offer, I have made a draft of a Webshop with product description and prices.

With so many options and configurations, it is too hard to answer the general question: "What is the price?" For those interested, please have a look at the Webshop to get a feeling. There is even a coupon code for m3f enthusiasts (coupon code m3f gives 10% discount). Link: airventdisplay.no

Maybe, in a not too distant future, I'll take the full step and open the Webshop, if the interest is still there. Still some development and test remaining. Enjoy...

It would be possible to choose the values that appear on the display and not only the ones you have put in, for example the AFR or gasoline pressure, tire pressure, etc ...
For m3 without mk60 there are two differnet emulator, which are the diferenece between both two?

Default Re: Visualization of CAN data related to the e46 M3

I'm sorry, but as per today there are no support for user defined values that can be configured after the airVent Display leaves "the factory". However, it is quite easy (for me) to add custom values/units as long as the requirements and interface is known.

The airVent Display system is so far only tested in a configuration equal to a facelift E46 M3 with MK60. I'm not sure how the airVent Display system would work in an M3 with MK20 (pre-facelift). The MSS54 should be ok, but I'm not sure the MK20 streams the same CAN bus data as the MK60 and/or uses the same KBUS protocol. I do not have the MK20 hardware to test these issues.

Regarding the MK60 emulators:
An MK60 emulator needs an MK60 and emulates missing units w.r.t CAN bus messages.

Two main types of MK60 emulators (as is written on the webpage):
1: For Stanalone MK60, i.e. for systems with MK60, LWS and YAW-module in a 500k bit/s CAN network (and no IKE and ECU).
2: For Hybrid MK60, i.e. for systems with MK60, MSS54, LWS and YAW-module in a 500kbit/s CAN network (and no IKE).

A small increment: Made a cable harness for easy test of the prototypes in my cars. Looking forward to take it from the bench to the car now...

airVent Display: Found finally some time to go out in the garage and test the airVent Display in a car. Tried first in my e46 m3 based car, but the battery was flat (winter time...) so my e46 325ti had to serve as a test mule.

This is too cool, I'll be looking to pick one up when you bring it into production!

airVent Display: Even thoug the screen on the airVent Display is a touch screen, there is also support for using the Cruise Control Buttons on the multifunction steering wheel to control next/previous/home GUI Page on the airVent Display. Function test done. Nice feature to have at the track, using driving gloves.... :-)
