Default F8X Lithium battery

Hey guys, it's been a long time but I'm back in an e46 M3 again. The car I just purchased needs a new battery so I'll be going with an F8X lithium ion battery as it's lightweight and free for me. I did some research but nothing definitive regarding whether it will work or not and whether anyone has tried it yet. I'm 98% sure it will be fine but I'll report back with the results after installation and 1 month later.

What are the CAs and reserve ratings? Weight? This thread needs a little something more imo

Well I'm forced to abandone this project as the battery that was free to me is no good so I'll just be purchasing a lightweight racing battery. The F8X lithium battery relies on a battery management module the F8X cars are equipped with. The battery itself has an internal safety switch for situations of extreme heat, overcharging or under charging and without the signal from the battery management module to control the safety switch there is no protection. Basically it just isn't worth finding out and especially true if you have to purchase the lithium battery.

I'm glad you decided to dig into this, as Lithium ion batteries can start fires if not managed for safe charging and discharging. You could put together a safety module, but personally I would take the route u eventually went with.
