Default Re: "cheap" brake rotors for track?

After 140,000 miles, including ~20,000 track miles, on my Brembo GT BBK (355mm), I just recently installed my 3rd set of front rotors (still on the second set of rears). I do run them beyond wear spec (I run them till the slots disappear), but none have failed due to cracking.

With no track use at all, with less miles and those miles being much easier, I've gone through more sets of stoptech rotors (ST40 355mm) on the M5.

In my experience, there is a pretty significantly difference in rotor life, at least between stoptech's 355's and Brembo's.

... though FCP is hard to beat for this.

Eh, theyíre all the same to meóuseless after a few track days. Personally, saving $20 or whatever per set of rotors isnít worth it.

FWIW - when i had my E46m3 i just used the rotors from advanced, they were like 33 a piece and had a 3 or 5 year warranty (can't remember). I pretty much replaced them every few months when stress cracks were visible, they gave me a new set no problem and i didn't have to pay shipping or any of that jazz.

I'd be interested in seeing how the cooling is routed...to hub or rotor backing plate? Or?

Just ordered Zimmerman blanks from FCP Euro to see if they last any better than Stoptech slotteds ...

Though may also soon get some brake cooling routed and hopefully won't be an issue.
