Updated OE line is plenty good. I saw no advantage of buying a wear item versus a hard line that will (or at least should) outlast the other offerings by a good margin.

Cost savings. Braided lines are about 50% cheaper.

You’ll be replacing at least once before that hard line fails, if it does at all. Savings = depleted

Did any later cars get the updated line from the factory?

Well yeah, but there's arguments that it's not a wear item. That's what I was trying to figure out initially with the help of OPs thread... and what I'm still trying to find out.

I guess it's a YMMV situation?

For what it's worth, my Bimmerworld line has been on the car for about 4 years. I think their point was more that you should have one as a backup (as many do)

Or just buy the updated factory hardline.

I've had the bimmerworld line since 2015, many many track days and autocross and street miles without issue.

The updated hard line I don't think will work in my case since I needed to reposition the accumulator somewhat for the E36 AC/motor mount region to work. I forget why exactly but the hardline that was on my motor didn't give enough slack.

My vote would be the BW line. I've purchased two different ECS line products (F25 brake line kit and E46 clutch line) and they've been unnecessarily short in length, compromising the application. I just purchased the BW line myself but have not installed it.
