Default What are these holes and why is transmission fluid leaking from them?

I started noticing a few drops of fluid under my car. Upon inspection it appears to be leaking from these two holes on the bottom of the transmission. Any ideas what is causing this/ what Iím about to get into in order to fix this?

Is that an indicator of a RMS leak?

I don’t have those holes on my trans. Is this an automatic? I would guess rear main seal is the most likely.

Yea itís a manual transmission. Iím betting itís one of the seals which will require the transmission being removed- which I really donít feel like doing so Iíll prob take it to my mechanic and eat it

Yeh pulling the transmission isn’t hard, but it definitely isn’t fun either. Especially if you don’t have a lift

Yea man... I donít doubt my abilities, it seems straight forward and my car is rust free so all fasteners should come off without issue, itís just Iíve spent most of my winter doing odds and bits on the car and rebuilt the v-twin outta my tractor and Iím just defeated haha. Itís warming up here and I just wanna drive the damn thing and enjoy it. Funny thing is I donít drive it much to begin with so itís not like Iíll be missing it if I did take it on myself, Iím just really being lazy these days.

The fluid is red...its not engine oil guys.

I'd suspect selector shaft seal leaking down.

Just check the trans oil to make sure the level is fine, top off if needed. Let it leak if you dont drive it much.

None of the above. That is the transmission input seal leaking. It’s underneath the throwout bearing guide tube. Take care of it now.

I'd swear I have two bolts of some sort on my 328i but it's been a while since I've been under the car.
