Default The Silly Little Question Thread

There are some very smart folks here, for those of us that have silly questions, this is the thread. Feel free to post your own silly questions.

Mine: Can you add an armrest to to a standard 1995 M3 console or do you need a whole new console?

My question. Will the Schwaben scanner offered by ECS read my 1995 DME and ABS system or will I still need to get a laptop with an actual serial port? I've tried reading via INPA, PA Soft and Barvarian Technic, but nothing has worked. Don't really want a third old laptop around, so the ECS scanner would be nice if it will read the 1995 specific stuff. I guess I should ask them directly, but curious if anyone has tried it.

DME and ABS do not require K+L line (ADS), so you should be good with a cheap cable. A good installation is required.

Anything specific I need to do installation wise? I just remembered I have pins 7 and 8 jumped on my cable to work on my E46s, could this be the issue? I'm able to read the airbag, body, cruise control and other modules just fine but the two I actually care about are the ones that I can't access. I was able to get tool32 to at least recognize the ABS system but anything specific I try just causes the no response from control unit error.
