In response to the silly choices of the functions they chose to map to the physical buttons, they said they agree that it's dumb but they were limited by the "PX5" platform they were working with and couldn't do anything about it.

Yeah if there was some way to get around this I'd be thrilled.
I guess see if the guys over at XDA have managed to do anything with the PX5 platform.

I kinda want to buy a 4. But I also don't really want to give them more money for releasing what is IMO essentially a broken product (3). Hopefully someone else comes out with a unit with the OE fit/finish.

MtcdTools maybe? There's a 44 page thread on it at XDA. Search for "px5 mtcdtools" and it should pop up. I have zero experience with this app however.

If this is possible, given my discussion with Avin it would mean that they weren't actually limited by the platform as they said but were just lazy. Not that that would shock me, but it would annoy me. Anyway, will be very interested to hear what you can find

Since this app to remapp on xda has support for the px5 system i doubt its a limitation in hardware. sooo..... i might even go to my car tright now even though its kinda late in germany already but i dont want to wait till after work to try this out

Edit: Okay this absolutely works flawless!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ayers-t3436789

Using this app in v 1.9 (latest atm) works like intended, you can select whichever app you want to open and lot of other stuff that i did not try out just now since its late. But i mapped spotify to my musik button and the ibus app to my cam button and a couple others.
I made a video aswell for spotify and the ibus app. It has a delay for 3 second by default but you can turn that down to 0ms or whatever you like, i turned it down to 0. the autostart function doesnt work when you are just waking it from sleep (1s boot time) but i will see in the morning if it works from cold boot.

Note: you have to assign the functions using avins factory settings (you can access that with the code 126) and assign useless functions to the keys for example 0-9. Then open the app from above and configure launch thingy, then bind the keys to it. to create a launch funmction, click the dropdown and then the icon. needs to be the icon and not the text beside it to select it, just something to note

Video: https://nebula.chaosdragon.de/index....So7zQi62W58Q8Q sorry for pressing musik first even though i already was in spotify xD kinda tired.

Beautiful, can't wait to try it out, thanks for figuring it out!! I am now absolutely more baffled that Avin decided to dedicate four physical buttons to mostly useless radio features.

Now if I could only figure out how to make it stop randomly turning the radio on when I start the car...

Message from Avin this morning:

"How to make the radio boot up to the last app it was on:

1. Close out the radio app if you are in it. Open the Bluetooth app or any other app you like.

2. Turn down the volume on the radio to zero "0"

2. Turn off the car or ACC and wait for 2 minutes.

3. Power the radio back on.

Now every time you start the radio it will remember the last app it was one before you turned it off."

I will try this tomorrow, if this works that would be awesome. Will it always open the specific app or any app that was open last?

Does anybody have experience flashing an avin Hu?
Found a few custom roms for px5 devices (avant 4). Problem is I am a little hesistent without having access to the stock firmware. Somebody got an idea how to get it off the HU? or does soemone have access to a stock avin image? I asked for it in their support forum but no reply yet and i am kind of not expecting an answer anyway regarding a rom image
