I don't have an answer, but will add a comment. When the throttle closes on deceleration the injectors cut off to save fuel. This is determined by the TPS. Maybe a throttle cable or cruise control cable is tangled up under the TB. Typically if the throttle was lodged open, the idle would be so high the ECU could not adjust it down. Another possibility is some sort of vacuum leak under the high vacuum of deceleration, such as a split idle air valve hose that opens only under that condition. Ideally, I would scan with a sophisticated scan tool to check for other codes.

Not sure, just follow the cables to where they originate. Adjust the one that goes into the firewall. There is a plastic, ribbed adjuster, just turn it until MOST of the slack in the line is taken up. Do not over tighten it.

Tightening the throttle cable will not keep the CEL from turning on.

You can test the TPS with a multimeter.

Thanks for the help everyone. Ill try the cable to see if that works then test the TPS with the multimeter tomorrow. It appears the code is only thrown after i accelerate hard 70%> throttle. After that it only comes on when I let off the gas. I'll report tomorrow what I find. Really appreciate the help everyone.

Did a quick test of my own. The car now has a hesitation on cold start and if I push the gas the RPMs drop first then go up. Unplugged the sensor and it runs perfect with no hesitation at all. Going to test it electronically for OHMs and see what values I get but I feel at this point its pretty conclusive its the TPS sensor itself.

Interesting. Mine has done that a few times when very cold, but I have never gotten any codes from it. I may look into that...

What was the verdict here? I am getting intermittent tps code (per peake), but no noticeable issues with idle or throttle response. Just wondering before I buy a new tps.
