I remember your experience and that the second time the same thing happened

If I were to do it again I would get the standard black finish on them. Not because I don't like mine in blue, but they took *forever* to be built

I like the PFC brakes enough that if I get a track F80 M3 I'll have adapter brackets built

Ya I'm not sure why mine went like that and yours didn't. What I have come to find, or at least I think is that mine didn't have a clear coat on them both times. Not sure if they are all like that or just mine. But when the caliper gets really hot on track, because of the lack of clear it absorbs the brake dust and when it cools it is permanently imbedded on there. That's just my assumption. I plan on getting them redone elsewhere later down the road when I start doing my aesthetic refreshing.

I have my stoptechs on my E90 redone in a custom blue powdercoat which has a pretty thick layer of clear coat. They have resisted track use pretty well. Not sure what the company used but they've held up much better than the red stoptechs on my E46 with their original coating.

Ya my problem is mine came with no clear coating. So I'm sure anything will hold up better then mine. Where did you have yours redone?

There is a kit out now from Wilwood people should look at. I put this 4 wheel kit on my Corvette and removed the stock Brembo's. The cost of consumables for Wilwood are extremely low. The only thing that is a little goofy is there rotors and hats require safety wiring or loctite red to secure them.

The pads from Wilwood are great though both street and track, They don't use rubber boots and the factory finish is really strong, no fading like Stoptech.

Very happy overall with my Wilwoods on my Vette and I am buying a set for my M3. They are sold for $1,500 complete from Wilwood.

The powdercoater.com but they no longer do retail sales. If you pull the pistons and other parts, most powdercoaters can do the job. Just make sure they know what to mask off.

Painting is another option but more $$$. Kind of pointless, IMO, for a track car.

I had the UUC/Wilwood kit on my 330ci with PFC DD rotors. I frequently boiled brake fluid and sheared a caliper bolt. The calipers are side mounted and have a small area of contact with the bracket. Whereas every other BBK I've seen is top mounted onto the bracket.

Never had any issues with my Stoptechs.

Honestly, I think wilwood calipers are about as good as the OEM brakes but less reliable.

Do they do one for 46M? they only list an E9x kit on their site.
