My E46 is faster with the AA kit on it but I have to rev the motor out to get that power, the V8 even though slower, has a power delivery that you just can't get in a 6 cylinder. Also, the way it sounds is amazing. No exhaust on an E46 can ever match that.

Agree with you totally on the V8 American car thing. hahah

Off topic but what do you think of the V10's in the M5/6? Just curious? Should the motors be smaller?
What you said up there i totally agree, especially balance of power and torque. E46 has low torque which i dont like, however, there is something about this car that just makes me fall in love with it even more everyday. lol And as far as M5/6 i think the v10 is a monster, but too big for my taste. And off course they'll have power, its a v10. lol

I can't stand the way newer cars look. They all look the same, that aerodynamic bullshit.

E46 body looks smooth and like a car should.

I am planning on boosting my E46 M3 so I wouldn't go for the newer version.

I toyed with the idea, but unfortunately, I was unable to test drive an M3 at the dealership. They had a 4 door M3 sedan, but when I told him I wanted a 2 door, he decided to not let me test drive the 4 door.

I gave up my 2003 e46 for a 2009 e90. Since then I've contacted the purchaser of my 2003 and told him I'd buy it back if he wants to sell. The e90 is a better car, but it doesn't have the character of the e46 M3. I'd rather have my TDI Jetta as a DD and an e46 as a toy. A very versatile toy.

Absolutely!

I love the E46, and it has some really cool and unique things about it (Indep TBs, looks, raw, etc....) but the bottom line is that the E9X performs better, isn't that much larger and can be made to look very very good as well. Actually, I really really like the E9X M (hate the NON-M) but if I were to spend that much, I think I would just go all out and buy a Nissan GTR which absolutely blows everything in that price point and well above away.

A guy that works for us has a E90 M3 and he tells me how boring the GTR looks, says it doesn't look really cool like a Ferrari or have the lines of a Porsche (which I TOTALLY agree with) or the aggression of Vette, etc..... I agree him, but the irony of him putting the GTR down because it is just a sports coupe looks, etc.....is so interesting as an M3 owner. Oh well.

Ive driven a few e9x's and you cannot deny the power or capability of it, but theres soemthing lacking in the e9x that the e46 has. Like said above the rawness of it, theres a better connection to the road. Of course when the road is crappy you feel it worse but thats just something worth dealing with..

the new e9x m has really grown on me and could imagine myself owning one one day (e90 m), but I would never ever give up my e46 m for it.
