Default would you give up E46 for E9x?

As for myself, after test driving the E92, i would NEVER EVER go from my E46 to E9x. I just love the looks and the performance of the E46. So i am just curious who here would like to go from their E46 to E9x?

The E46 M3 is more of a drivers car out of the box... I felt the same way after driving the E92 M3... However I maybe looking to move to an E90 M3 soon.

I would, that V8 is I drove my cousin's DCT e92 M3, that thing was crazy fast and smooth.
Maybe my next performance car after the e46, we'll see.

The E46 M3 feels more like a raw race car compared to the E92 M3. I test drove an E92 M3 a few weeks ago. I'd say they're both fairly different cars. You can definitely tell the E92 is bigger and heavier. Also everything in the E92 is smooth and refined, doesn't feel like you're really in a powerful and fast car, definitely more luxurious feeling. As far as looks, both are great looking cars. E46 is definitely more aggressive looking. Would I switch from an E46? After the test drive I'd switch in a heartbeat just for that V8.

nope. Id rather go to an E36 M then an E90 M.

not a fan of the body style or interior...
call me old fashion but the boxy style, with some modern flair is where its at.

I am not really a big fan of the V8. I love the design of the inline 6. The idea of the V8 makes me feel like its an American car or something.

Don't get me wrong. I love my inline 6, it's an amazing engine. I definitely think M3's should stick with I6's. I'm just saying that the E9x M3 motor has the perfect balance of power and torque. My E46 is faster with the AA kit on it but I have to rev the motor out to get that power, the V8 even though slower, has a power delivery that you just can't get in a 6 cylinder. Also, the way it sounds is amazing. No exhaust on an E46 can ever match that.

Agree with you totally on the V8 American car thing. hahah

Off topic but what do you think of the V10's in the M5/6? Just curious? Should the motors be smaller?

I honestly upgraded on an impulse. I will miss the e46 a whole bunch needless to say.
