It's the Great Plains alright... everywhere I've been in that area of the country (including where I grew up) was the same.

Add "flat" to the mix. Also... you're gonna get a huge dose of fundamentalism there. Guess where Westboro Baptist is located?

Kansas just missed the Top 10.

Westport is definitely scuzzy. The Legends by the Kansas Speedway has grown considerably. Yes, we have a Nascar track. I went there once in a limo with my brother and some friends. About 13 hours later, my brother was released from jail for beating on 4 fat rednecks that decided to start a fight with the last guy from our group leaving. Somehow the rednecks were allowed to walk off with no questions asked.

Anyway, what area of KC is your office located?

I have NO idea honestly.

I'll post an address when I can find it.

LOL On the plus side, Denver is only about an 8 hour drive.

Seriously though, if you are planning to move there check Lawrence out. The commute might suck, but I think it is better than KC in general.

KC is just very suburban and the city itself was not all that cool. The burbs seemed like a decent place to raise a kid, but not all that fun for adults.

I will say that Arrowhead is an amazing place to see a football game.

Yeah that's where Lawrence is much better. Weather still sucks, but geographically it is very hilly and politically/religiously much more progressive.

I worked there for a while. Lots of space, nice places to eat downtown. You can smell coffee everywhere from the Folgers plant

Traffic was fine honestly, nothing compared to Dallas, just a large city with folks going to work and getting home.

Also, one of my favorite ballparks - loved watching the Royals.

Not the most accessible place in the world but I think they're planning to expand the airport.

Almost certainly going to be a different pace of life than you crazy East Coasters are used to.

Go for it matey - cost of living will be crazy low for you.

Sadly, it gets worse in terms of flat as you head west. The only mountain in Kansas

That's what I was thinking, and since the only other Porsche in the state is a 2001 Boxster with a plastic rear window, he will definitely win.

I remember hitting I-70 in Kansas after I had picked my M3 up in Florida and was driving it back to Denver....... 5am, no cars, glass smooth road, straight as far as the eye could see.
