Well I arrived earlier today and spent time with my family... My grandfather is now gone... he is in a better place. Hopefully with my late brother looking down on us. It was hard seeing everyone else hurt so bad, but we are remembering all the good times and all the good stories.

I truly appreciate all the kind words and blessings from everyone here on the forums.... though I dont personally know the majority of you... the kind words truly go a long way.

Thanks You...

Vernon Schneider- father of 7 and grandfather of to damn many (30+ ) you were a great man... may you rest in peace. Love you grandpa...

Cosmo, so sorry for your loss.

My grandfather passed about 8 months ago and will always hold a special place in my heart for all the things he did for me. My mother died when I was 7, he and my grandmother raised me. This was no small feat in itself as they had raised two girls and at their age a young boy (who got into everything and disassembled it) was quite the challenge I'm sure. At about age 12, my grandmother fell down our steps and wound up in a nursing home for the rest of her life. At this point he and I were on our own and had to learn how to take care of each other. I believe that these years were what made us so close and built a bond that would never die.

Enjoy the times you spent together and the things that made him special. I still smile when I think back on the times that Pap would blare Polka music in the car while driving us around (he was Ukrainian). At the time it would drive me crazy as my band of choice was Twister Sister and there is nothing worse than being dropped off with your friends having an ummpapa band playing in the background.

Keep him in your thoughts and remember the things that made him the great man he was.

Kyle, sorry to hear about the bad news and the good thing is you were able to see him before he passed on, not many people get the opportunity to do that.

Many of us that are getting to the age when our grandparents start to pass on and it's a rough period.

I've always found that thinking of the many lessons I've learned from my family and that they are no longer in pain makes things easier. Do things in your life that would have made him/her proud.

Main thing is that I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about that man, its really a shame. It's good that you have things to remember and spent time with him. I just lost a grandparent recently, and never really spent much time around or got to know them. Makes me feel guilty, but what can you do.

I'm sure hes in a better place.
