Waze is nice, but is not a replacement for a radar detector.

I'd probably just disable LIDAR detection if your V1 is working well otherwise. Most of the time when you get alerted to laser, the LEO already has your speed- save for the rare occasion where it picks up "scatter".

Upgrade cost can be viewed on their site if you enter your serial number. Not sure if that will address it. I do get the occasional laser false but not frequently with my 1.85s.

Had a radar detector (escort passport 9500) for 5 years, got several tickets. Never had a radar detector in this e46 m3, yet speed all rhe time, but not a single ticket go figure. I think a detector is a false sense of security. I keep my eyes open more now and look for "hotspots" like under bridges or usual chp spots. Plus it's more and more laser now anyway.

Your alertness definitely goes up as well as visibility when your rear view mirror explodes anti dimming liquid and yank it off.

A radar detector is just additional information, part of a larger picture. It doesn't make you ticket proof or correct for unobservent driving.

You might be type a, but many are afflicted by complacency, I would imagine. There's no point arguing about it. You have a detector and no tickets; I have no detector and no tickets as well.

Go to Valentines website and enter your Serial number. It will tell you exactly what you want to know.

While there is no law against laser jammers here in the uk the police have been known to try to prosecute for "Perverting the course of justice" which is a very serious offence ie max sentence is life imprisonment! Of course this level of sentencing is for offences like tampering with witnesses but it still means appearing before a crown court judge rather than a magistrate.

Apparently when laser operator gets an error reading on a car the license number is logged in a data base. Repeat occurences can trigger a visit, car confiscation and prosecution. Defineatly not worth risking !
