The insurance company is going to fix it! I'm happy to not have to go through another M3 search or send a 75k mile M3 to the junk yard. I really love my car. I'll post some repair pics in a week or 2 once it's done

Upon further review from the body shop, repairs are now over $10K which totals the car. The insurance company values the car at $18.5k and then unfortunately does a $5.3k downward adjustment for previous collision history, but its fair. In the end, I come out a few grand ahead, but essentially break even once factoring in all the time I had put in with DIY maintenance/repairs. Well, I had an M for a month... It was a fantastic car.

I may be done with the M3 platform. My wife wants me to get something that seats 5 due to having 3 kids. I am now looking in the $15k to $18k range for a sports sedan. So now my short list in order of preference is below.

2010-11 Audi S4
E60 550i (Cheap, valve guide seal problems)
E90 M3 Sedan (High price and rod bearing problems)
E90 335i Sedan (Not the best looking and exhaust sounds like a Hyundai)
CTS-V (Affordable ones are ugly and good looking ones are way too expensive)
Kia Stinger (Out of my price range)
Chevy SS (Way too expensive)

I'll post the new ride once I find it.

To close this chapter, I ended up buying a 2010 S4, Prestige, 6 speed with alcantara interior. It doesn't handle like the M3 and feels a little heavier, but it has 5 seats, a big trunk, AWD, lots of modern tech and creature comforts. The 3.0 supercharged motor is fast and all of the low RPM torque makes it feel even fast during daily driver use. The car was really clean, had 55k miles, 2nd owner with the entire maintenance history. After taxes and registration, I had to spend about $1500 more than what the insurance company paid me for my last car.

My little boy was in tears when we pulled the tag off to let the tow truck haul it off to a salvage auction. The S4 is growing on him though so, in the end it was a happy outcome. Maybe one day I'll find myself M3 shopping again.

Still a great choice! I had a B8 for a while and loved it!

An underbody X-brace will really help tighten up the chassis (the updated B8.5 got it from factory), as well as a short ram intake to help hear the supercharger and a APR stage 2 tune.
