Default FS: 2006 Imola Red ZCP coupe, 6sp Manual, 111K

After much deliberation and with a heavy heart, I have decided that after 8 wonderful years of ownership I'm ready to move on. Life is short and there are way too many cars out there, but right now I am just planning to take a year or two off from car ownership.

2006 E46 M3 ZCP

  • 6-Speed Manual Transmission
  • Harmon-Cardon Stereo
  • ~111,000 Miles (just turned last week)
  • Clean title in hand

$17,500
I will consider reasonable offers. I am only posting the car here because the car has been loved and well taken care of its whole time with me and I'd love to see it go to another enthusiast. I am in no need or rush to sell it.

OWNERSHIP HISTORY:
Car was purchased from Audi Denver (formerly MacDonald Audi) in December 2011 with ~62k miles. I am the second actual owner, the first owner had it registered under his business and then under his own name, so it shows me as third.

No accidents, repainting, or bodywork mods.

MODS AND UPDATES:
  • KW V2 Coilover Suspension (installed 5/2019)
  • H&R spacers - 15mm front, 10mm rear

  • OEM Black floor mats (switched to black from dove gray)
  • Trunk cargo net
  • New headlight lenses (July 2019)

All stock cosmetic parts are still available and will be included.

MAINTENANCE HISTORY:
All maintenance records from my ownership are available. The previous owner had his maintenance work performed by Ralph Schomp BMW in Littleton, CO because the car was under warranty. They have a good record on this car as they’ve also done a lot of work for me.

Shortly after purchasing the car, I discovered that it still had about 7 months of BMW CPO Warranty remaining. Four months later (April 2012), I experienced the VANOS bolt issue. The entirety of the repair was conducted under the CPO Warranty by Schomp BMW. At that time, they also replaced the battery, which is still working well today.

Maintenance work summary:
  • VANOS rebuilt by BMW in 2012
  • Replaced alternator in 2012
  • New front bushings in 2013
  • New front rotors in 2014
  • Ignition Coils replaced in November 2016
  • Replaced Oil Level Sensor in 2016
  • New Rear Rotors in 2017
  • New front and rear brake pads in 2017
  • Top mount cam sensor replaced in 2017
  • Kings Racing Rod Bearings in spring 2017
  • New driveshaft coupler (Guibo) installed in summer 2017
  • New power steering hose in June 2018
  • Transmission, coolant, and brake fluids flushed and changed June 2018
  • Airbag recalls completed by dealer 2017/2018
  • CPV valve replaced April 2019
  • Replaced loose exhaust heat shields in June 2019
  • During this work, the dealer also inspected the subframe and found no cracks or issues.

All regular maintenance has been performed on time by either my indie shop, by the BMW dealer, or by me. I did the minor maintenance work myself - brakes, rotors, brake sensors, oil sensor, CPV, suspension install, spacers, air filter, cosmetics, ignition coils with new plugs, and detailing.

The dealer recommended that the motor mounts be replaced at some point, but didn't feel that it needs to be done right now. There is no visible wear and there are no issues associated with the mounts right now.

MECHANICAL CONDITION:
Mechanical condition is as near as it can be to excellent. Last oil change was in May 2019. Last Inspection was in February 2015, around 83K miles, so it’s not due again until ~113k or so, although most of the work included in an Inspection has been performed recently – fluid flushes, oil change, and new filters. Clutch is still strong.

OIL:
Since changing to King's Racing Rod Bearings in 2017, I've been using Schaeffer's 5-50W Oil. I haven't done an analysis on it yet. The car has never been tracked or driven hard for a prolonged time, but the unexplained wear on one of the rod bearings was enough of a concern for me to get away from BMW oil.

I change the oil once a year since I only drive about 5k or less miles annually. (The car had 100k in April 2017, 105.5k in April 2018, and 108k in April 2019).

There is no smoking from the exhaust or anything like that, and there have been no oil leaks other than the CPV oil leak and that was resolved when I changed the valve earlier this year.

TIRES:
New Michelin Pilot SS tires were purchased in spring of 2017 – slightly wider than stock (235F, 265R).

I have driven the car on Blizzaks over few winters, last time was two seasons ago. There is no rust anywhere on the car as that is unheard of in Colorado.
The car does great in snow with proper shoes but I have not driven it in snow for the past 2 seasons. Even in winter, I have typically only taken it out when the snow and slush have melted away on the roads.

WEAR:
  • Light interior wear on:
  • Driver’s side seat bolsters have little wear, but no ripping or any tears
  • Alcantara on the steering wheel is flat, but it’s not torn
  • Steering wheel trim paint was worn so I wrapped it, but the wrap is now peeling

I've been wanting to get the steering wheel re-wrapped and trim repainted but haven't been able to find time to get it to Coby.
  • Light exterior wear on:
  • Wheels have some curb rash from the previous owner
  • Few rock chips on hood and fenders
  • There are a couple of minor dings from previous owner but they are barely noticeable
  • Passenger side rear window seal is worn – I bought replacements for both sides, just haven’t installed them yet.

Overall cosmetic condition is 8-9 out of 10. Absolutely no cracks or tears inside, no rust or dents outside, and no fading of the paint or clear coating.

The car is garaged and kept clean inside and out all year. I work from home so I don’t drive as much as I used to, but I take occasional summer weekend mountain drives. The car stays in when it’s raining or snowing outside, and I’ve been taking my wife’s car skiing for the past few seasons. I haven’t driven the M3 on snow in the past 2 seasons, mostly due to lack of any significant snowfall in Denver, but also because I use my wife’s car in the winter and take Uber/Lyft when I go out.

The car has always been babied and well taken care of. It's very sound mechanically and I've addressed every issue that the shop or I have identified.

Here's a link to the gallery of recent shots - M3 Album

Let me know if you'd like to see more or anything specific. The car has been lowered just a little recently, and the Stig stickers have been removed.

Quick note - the floor mats in the car are brand new, the pics show a tear on the driver's side but that's been replaced.

This seems significantly under priced.

Also... put it on BaT. I don't think it would be unrealistic to see it go for $5-10,000 more than you're asking.

I agree with most here. Even with the less desirable dove grey interior, this car seems somewhat underpriced. I would think that as a Comp car, you should be able to get closer to $20k, if not more.

Market is cooling off, anyway. Priced for a quick sell.

I'm taking in account the upcoming cost of the inspection 2 due in about 2k miles, and the need to refinish the steering wheel. I *could* have those things done and ask for more money, especially now that you're all egging me on lol!
This way it's priced as-is and the next owner can take care of maintenance and cosmetics as they see fit.
